"Cirque du Soleil" has presented one more masterpiece - rock opera “Zarkana”

In New York, the world’s most famous show creator Cirque du Soleil has presented the second premier of this year - rock opera “Zarkana” permeated with the most complicated acrobatic numbers. The Cirque du Soleil artists performing in the 75th play bring the audience to the place where the line between reality and imagination disappear - to the world of dreams, which everyone is made to believe in.

The main plotline of the performance is based on history of life of the magician named Zark. Zark has lost not only his magic powers, but also love for life. As a whole, one can say that “Zarkana” is a performance, where music and improbable acrobatic numbers bring to the world of imagination, where the chaos prevailing at first gradually gives place to celebration and love.

During the performance of a little more than two hours, applauses and conclamations of admiration are brought on by costumes of the artist embodying exotic creatures, huge sand pictures made by hand as well as the acrobats participating in “Zarkana”, who are flying in the air and perform the most complicated and most dangerous tricks. The performance is especially rich in tricks and numbers that include gliding and flying in the air.

After the premier, “Zarkana” has received not only a lot of praises from admirers of Cirque du Soleil, but also positive critical opinions. According to the latter, for each person in the audience “Zarkana” guarantees stunning images created not only by dangerous tricks artistically done by the talented acrobats, but also by impressing and very realistic video projections as well as both interesting and involving story and excellent music. Besides, the songs in this performance are performed in English, unlike songs in many other creations of Cirque du Soleil that are performed in Esperanto or an invented language.

The script of “Zarkana” was created and staged by famous movie and the Canadian theatre play director Francois Girard. Music for the performance was written by famous Australian musician, composer and producer Nick Littlemore, who had produced such performers as Elton John, Robbie Williams, and Groove Armanda. It is claimed that Sir Elton John himself has made a considerable contribution to writing the music for “Zarkana”.
